UK Finals Tournament on 9th December

posted Oct 30, 2012, 10:42 AM by Barry Gates

We have now had the last tournament of the 2012 League.
This gives us the teams who will compete in the UK Finals tournament on the 9th December in Faringdon, Oxfordshire.

The top 5 teams are:

LUNIs
HuHa
Cardiff
EMUs
Cambridge

I will create the tournament schedule and distribute to all teams.

For those that didn't make the top 5 - remember there is next year! You all did a great job attending the league tournaments and making them worthwhile competitions. We look forward to seeing you all bigger and better in 2013.

Horsham tournament on 28th July 2012

posted Apr 1, 2012, 1:43 PM by Barry Gates

[The following is a message form Lee Baker of HuHa (Horsham) ]

Horsham are holding a tournament on the 28th July. We are hoping to get 7 teams for the day, we will have an A and a B team so that leaves 5 spaces.

The tournament will take place in the hall that we normally train in, if you haven't been before its rather large. Makes for some quality passing games.

Venue: The Weald School, Station Road, Billingshurst, West Sussex, RH14 9RY.
Time: 11:00 - 18:00
Map: http://g.co/maps/u96ug

Please note that the road marked "A" on the map is the back entrance to the school but this is the one that we will be using on the day as it is more convenient.

Billingshurst Train Station is only a 2 minute walk away as well which some of you may find helpful.

Please would you let me know if your team would like a spot!

p.s. Would someone also mention this at the Southampton Tournament as HuHa are unable to attend this one.

Kind Regards,

Lee Baker

Lee, I missed your email as I'm away from work. Did you say there would be some HuHa's around?

Barry, is there any LUNI interest?

EMUs, Cambridge, Whitstable, JUST, Southampton, SWUM, and everyone else?

Please remind everyone that plays with you, it will be a good day of hockey that will cater well for all ability levels. (see forwarded message below for a bit more)

Drop me a wee email or text and let me know how many are expected.

Evening all,

Unfortunately the BUC did not have sufficient registration to make it happen. So We're trying to arrange a little hockey day for Sunday 22nd April in Yate, just north of Bristol.

As it's quite close in date to league tournaments in Southampton and London we are thinking of doing a scratch or fun tournament. We could also split up into more and less experienced groups for all or some of the day so people can compete around their own level.

The venue is currently available and I will book it if there is a nice bit of interest. We're aiming for a 5, 6 or 7 hour slot from around 11:00 and depending on numbers it will be between £6 and £9 per head.

Please let all your players know Asap and try to let me know within a week how many interested folk you might have so I can secure the date.

Should give us a good day of high quality, high fun hockey.

Nice...

Should we get our sport to be recognised by Sport England?

posted Mar 7, 2012, 2:15 AM by Barry Gates

I was thinking that maybe we should get Unicycle Hockey set up with Sport England as a recognised sport.

I would like them to promote it in schools and I guess you need it set up as a recognised sport first.

Any comments?
